Dress: Jason Wu for Target
Cardigan: J.Crew
Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Bag: Jason Wu for Target
I finally got my hands on this Jason Wu dress! Carol was kind enough to pick it up for me at her Target in a size 6 the day the collection launched, but then I saw a picture of my size twin Kathryn wearing the dress in a size 4 and I realized that I needed a 4 too. So I stalked the Target website for days and it finally popped back up in my size :)
Of course I wanted to wear the dress to work the day after it arrived, but I had no clue what colors to pair it with, so it just hung untouched in my closet for a few weeks. I eventually decided to wear a black cardigan and heels with it because that's how Jason Wu styled it on one of those morning shows (well, I doubt that it was really him who dressed the model) and I trust that he knows what he's doing. I actually think it will look even better in the spring/summer with just the black heels and belt and no cardigan.
I also wore tights with this outfit to work because 1) The dress is kinda short, 2) It was only in the 50's outside, and 3) My legs are still super pale, but that was a BIG mistake. The dress clung to the tights like crazy and kept riding up on me all throughout the day. I even had a slip on underneath it, but that didn't seem to help. I tried to hide out in my office all day, but when I did have to leave, I made sure that I carried something in front of me so that no one could see the issues that I had going on. Lesson here? Do not wear tights with this dress EVER or you will pay!
Tomorrow is the last day to enter my 2-year blogiversary giveaway!

Was it static or texture, if it was static- A helpful hint with hose or tights and dresses: You can either lift up the dress and spray a light mist of hair spray over your tights, or you can put some lotion on your hands and rub over your tights. Not thick or anything, just enough to absorb the static.
ReplyDeleteLove it! This dress looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable - and OH, I've had that happen to me before (crazy static issues). There's seriously nothing more annoying or absurd. I'm going to have to try Idreamofanthropologie's suggestions the next time it happens to me.
ReplyDeleteI read that if you put a safety pin on the inner lining of a dress it gets rid of static cling. I haven't tried it yet but maybe it will help a little bit!
ReplyDeletethat is the WORST! Whenever I have static issues one of my sassy, rude, older coworkers is always like "When I was younger, proper ladies always wore slips with skirts". I always want to say "BIATCH, my undergarments are none of your business, and I AM wearing a slip, but those things are magically and sometimes static happens!"
ReplyDeleteLOVE that one, and missed it. Looks lovely on you.

This dress looks great on you! I love the nautical theme. Also, use Static Guard. It's a savior; you can also use it on your hair by spraying it on your brush and then brushing your hair. Great for flyaways.

I am still wanting this dress! I saw two girls wearing it today while waiting in line at food trucks!
ReplyDeleteI had the same issue too but I found online that if you rub dryer sheets underneath the dress, it won't stick. Worked on me so you should try it out!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is AWESOME. love.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! I was unable to get any thing on the day the collection launched, but I found the wheel print dress with the pearl neckline in my size and on sale for 30% off this week. I am so excited to wear it!
