So last night while I was sleeping on the couch, my husband decided to order himself an ant farm off of Amazon. He says he's fulfilling some childhood dream that he had that his mom always shot down.

Now part of me loves the idea of having my own ant farm. I think it will be fun to watch them create their little tunnels and....well, I'm not sure what else they do, but I'm sure it will be interesting to just sit and watch them.

Another part of me wants to throw the package away when it arrives and I can just tell my husband that it must have gotten lost in the mail and wasn't meant to be. I mean, what if I come home one day and find that the ant farm accidentally fell off the table and broke? I don't want to wake up one night and find ants crawling all over me!

Would you guys let your husbands/boyfriends get an ant farm? Do any of you have an ant farm or have you had one in the past?

  1. Haha! I would freak out a little too, probably laying in bed just imagining that the ants were crawling all over my body and never sleeping a wink. My kids would probably go nuts over it though... but I'm not sure they'd help keep my anxiety in tact either. Good luck! Post pictures of your new pets when they do arrive.

  4. I had an ant farm when I was little! It was plastic and pretty sturdy, so I wasn't worried about it breaking. Mainly the ants just milled around in their little tunnels, and eventually they all died off and I never bought replacements. I also had sea monkeys. :) Also, I love your skirt!

  5. My BF wants something even worse than an ant farm. He wants a whole bunch of worms so that he can make compost! YUCK!

  6. You know I always wanted one of those too, so I'd be down with it. As a kid I always wanted a rock tumbler. My guy got me one a few years back. =)

  7. Funny! I just ordered my two year old an ant farm. I also have older kids that will enjoy it too. I have never had one and always wanted one when I was little. I wonder how it will be?

  8. you just need to hunt down that Charlotte Taylor ant farm dress, then see how much loves ants...

  9. Ha! I had one of those tumblers when I was a kid. My daughter got one and we just threw it away. She didn't have the patience to wait all those days for it to finish and then the next cycle....ha!

  10. I had one as a young adult (21) and loved it. Sadly the ants dye because you can not order and queen ant and the colony can't live without her, but they do a lot of work before they die off. I would love to have another one.

Oh, I love your outfit, Sara! Hahaha, I think I'm going to have to replicate it, actually.

As for the ant farm, no, none for me, thanks. I get enough ants in the house (the uninvited sort), to last me a lifetime. :P

  13. Love this outfit Sara! And those shoes are ones I missed out on but I'm not willing to pay the super high ebay prices for them.

And just commenting from your previous post on the Walking Dead. I LOVE that show! I always tell my husband it reminds me of Lost, except with Zombies. I just got into it a little while ago when they had a marathon so I recorded all of the episodes, and now I'm hooked. I haven't read the comics but now I'm a little intrigued. Can't wait for season 3.

  14. I know you love those budding t-straps and were wondering what you will do when they die. Check out the similar t-straps in blue at Boden that I noticed tonight. There are 15% off codes around if you google it.

  15. Hi Sarah, My daughter had an ant farm. They are actually fun to watch. my fiance bought me Sea Monkeys! That was a childhood want that got shot down for me by my mom. So, I guess you should let him get it out of his system ;)

  16. No ant farm aspirations over here. I'd be the worst farmer because I'd probably forget we were "raising" them and get out a can of raid.

  17. Love the cardigan! You have such chic style.

  37. I am not a blogger, but this is the only one that has ever intrigued me, simply because Sara lets us into her life and speaks from the heart....I've noticed, like everyone else, that a commited blogger like yourself has fallen off the radar. And like others, we have gotten somewhat attached to you! Sara, I hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are healthy, happy, and still shopping away......

  38. I've been wondering where you are? Hope things are okay.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'd say so. Doesn't the blog disable it's self after a while?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Does anyone know why Sara suddenly stopped? I hope everything is alright...

  46. Such a let down to all her loyal followers.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Seriously? Maybe there is something going on in her life that is keeping her from blogging.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Seriously. There is nothing wrong with feeling let down if you've been a reader of this blog for two years. I truly hope everything is okay with Sara, but I am only stating a fact. Chill.
