Say It Ain't So!

Readers, please tell me that my most favoritest shoes in the whole wide world aren't ruined forever! I was walking to dinner tonight and I stupidly walked over a sidewalk grate made up of very wide spaces/little rectangles. Of course my heel got stuck and when I went to pull it out of the grate, the left side of the strap ripped right off :/ Here's a look at the damage:

Can it be fixed? Should I take it to a shoe man ASAP and see what he says? I seriously don't know what I'll do if it can't be fixed. I wear these shoes all the time and if I had to choose only one pair of shoes to wear for the rest of my life, these would be it.

Please tell me there's still hope!

  1. There is hope! I don't know shoes, but I am sure they can stitch it back down for you, I don't think you need to fear :)

  3. Sara, I once broke a favorite pair of shoes TWICE in the same spot and a cobbler was able to fix it both times. I am sure it is fixable! Ask and see... don't fret!

  4. I'm sure a good cobbler could fix that! It's worth a try anyway for those adorable shoes. :-)

  5. I think you can definitely get that fixed! I had the same thing happen to a pair of shoes and they had no trouble fixing them!

  6. Oh no! My husband said if they're leather or vinyl, they should be easy to repair. They look suede in this picture, though, and he said that would be more difficult. He's not a cobbler, but he used to repair leather. I would take them to a cobbler tomorrow ... Good luck!

  7. You can probably make up it by sticking something (crystals) and do the same to the other one too? UGH, sorry if it feels to be spoiled :/

  8. I would Yelp a good cobbler. And stay away from the ones at the mall as they are the highest price. Hope you find an excellent one.

  9. Is that elastic that's come out of the strap? I had a pair like this and my cobbler said he couldn't fix them. However, I wasn't taking no for an answer and sewed them myself with a strong needle and some tough thread. Mine were leopard print so it was easy to disguise the black thread in the pattern - I'm sure you could do it with a pale grey or something on those. Good luck!

  10. I had the same problem with shoes with a similar strap/elastic. It came of too. I took it to shoe repair and they fixed it. It will be ok. It's very easy to fix normally.

  12. Make sure you take them to a real shoe cobbler....not a dry cleaner that also advertises show repair. An old fashioned cobbler who has been in business for years should be able to fix those. And if a cobbler can't, at least you know you did all you could. Good luck!

  13. Definitely try to get it fixed. It won't look like new, but I think you'll still be able to wear it. Definitely try.

  14. Eeek! So sorry this happened to you! I think it's fixable though. Agree with everyone else...take it to a good cobbler, and avoid any kind of mall shoe repair place. If these are your faves, it's worth the extra $$ to get them fixed properly!!! I have a good cobbler where I live and you would be AMAZED at the stuff they can do! Good luck Sara!

You can totally get these fixed. The same thing happened to my favorite kedzie mary jane shoes. I paid 40 but so worth it. Three years later and still good as new :). Be sure to check reviews and local dry cleaners (yes, some dry cleaners fix shoes) before taking your shoes to get fixed.
