June Birchbox

This month, my Birchbox is filled with products that are perfect for travel. Some are small, so they'll fit perfectly into your carry-on bag and some are multi-purpose, so you won't have to bring as many other products with you on your trip. Ok, time to see what I got!

Kate Spade Twirl-This scent has top notes of watermelon, blackberry, and red current. The middle layer is made up of orange blossom, jasmine, and magnolia and the bottom layer is made up of musk and French macaroons. It's described as being a cheerful and flirty scent. I actually like this perfume a lot more than I thought I would. It's a good mix of fruity and floral notes and isn't too strong and sophisticated. I don't think that I like it enough to buy a full size bottle, but I'm sure I'll finish the sample.

Laura Geller Baked Blush N' Brighten-This powder is made in Italy and can be used as both a blush and a highlight. The marbled side of the powder looks like a light pink color in the compact, but it's actually more of a peachy color on the skin. The lighter/highlight side of the powder leaves a nice light sheen on the skin. I haven't actually used this on my face yet, but when I swatched it on my hand, both sides were very pigmented. The one negative to this product is that it has a lot of shimmer/sparkles in it. I usually try to use matte blushes, but I'll still use this one. Of all the products I got this month, this one is probably my favorite. Oh and the one in my box is full size, which normally costs $29.50 and I paid $10!

Nuxe Reve De Miel Ultra Comfortable Body Cream-This cream is imported from Paris and is made up of, among other things, honey and macadamia nut oil. It's supposed to be good for dry and sensitive skin because it's full of naturally hydrating ingredients. I've used this a few times and it did feel silky smooth when I first put it on my hands, but after a few minutes that feeling was gone. The cream wasn't greasy though and it felt very light on my hands. The scent of it wasn't very strong, but what I could smell wasn't very pleasant. I'll definitely use the tube up, but wouldn't buy a full size bottle of it.

Sircuit Cosmeceuticals Molecular Mist-This mist uses heavy water to keep the skin hydrated all day long. It's supposed to prevent dryness and dehydration and can be used to set makeup or just to refresh the face. I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to products like these (I know Evian also makes a mineral water spray that's sold at Sephora). I feel like it's basically just water in a bottle sold at a ridiculously high price. I didn't find that my makeup stayed on any longer than it usually does when I used this and my face didn't feel any more moisturized than normal. I wouldn't buy this product or any other product like it at full price.

Bonus: Deborah Lippmann Stripper To Go Nail Lacquer Removers-I haven't used these yet, but I've heard great things about them and I think they'll be great to take on trips.

What did you get in your Birchbox this month?

My June birchbox was duplicate of my May birchbox... so sad, looks like you got some cute things!!!

  2. I got the exact same items as you! I like the blush, but like you, I wish it didn't have so much shimmer - it's a bit much for me. I actually do like the molecular mist as a moisturizer, though... I use it before workouts to get a little moisture and dewy-ness. I got a 3 month subscription to Birchbox for my sister, and she got two identical boxes this time - weird!! They are actually the boxes I was supposed to get (with self-tanner and Kiehl's lotion in them), according to the site, so I'm not sure exactly what happened over there!

  3. I have used Laura Gellar's Bronze n Brighten and Blush and Brighten for years and I love both products. They're amazing. I have sensitive skin and they never bother me or break me out, and while you may think they look really pigmented, they're not when you put them on with a big brush. They're very subtle and natural! I can't wait to hear what you think of it!

  4. Oooo, I've never heard of Birchbox! I'm super interested. I mean, $10 for all those awesome samples? Count me in! Maybe I should start dropping hints to Boyfriend about how it could be a nice anniversary present, haha!

  6. This month's birchbox was much better than last month's! I got the Laura Geller Blush (and I love it!!) and the kate spade perfume, but the rest of my stuff is different than yours. I also got Pangea Organics toner for normal/oily skin, which I've used a couple times and it's a great hydrator. They also gave me a small packet of facial cream by the same company.

I also got Amika Obliphica Oil Treatment, which helps protect split ends, calms frizz, and hydrates dead ends.

My Bonus was Dr. Dennis Gross EZ4U Facial Towelettes, which I haven't used yet. Apparently each towelette (I got two) cleanses, tones, moisturizes, and protects skin.

My mom gets the box, too, and she got the toner like I did but hers was for combination skin. She also got hair oil treatment, but a different brand. She got towelettes too, but a different brand.

  7. Mine was much better. I agree with you that my favorite product is probably the blush & brighten compact. I received the Pangea Organics toner which I really like and some type of hair oil treatment that I haven't tried yet. I also received facial sunscreen wipes instead of the nail lacquer removers. Overall, great birchbox!

  8. I got the Laura Gellar blush too.. love it, and it has pretty much replaced my bronzing/blushing needs for the summer. I honestly can't remember what else was in my box. I looked it up on the Birchbox site, but I'm pretty sure what they have listed there isn't actually what I got. I think I got some self-tanner which I was "meh" about. But really, the blush/bronzer was worth it for the month for me.

I wish I had gotten the self-tanner! I just bought a few new ones recently because the ones I've been using just aren't getting the job done.

I really want to try those facial sunscreen wipes. I've seen some at Sephora before and always wondered if they really worked or not.

Sounds like I need some of that oil treatment for my hair. It's so dry in the summer and I've got horrible split ends.

That's strange that you haven't gotten your box yet. I got mine back on the 10th. I guess maybe it depends on where you're located?

I can't believe they sent you the same box two months in a row! I'd definitely email them to let them know and maybe they can send you a new one.

  14. When I lived in California, my boxes would come on like the 24th of the month. I think it says somewhere that the west coast gets the boxes later.
