Pretty in Pink

Dress: Anthropologie Mullany Dress
Cardigan: Old Navy Pink Cardigan
Tights: LOFT Gray Tights
Shoes: Target Black Mary Janes

Hi friends! I want to say thanks to all of you who left such uplifting comments on my "bad day" post yesterday. You ladies always know how to make a girl feel so much better! Luckily, my day yesterday (and today) was ten times better than my day on Monday and I got to wear my favorite dress, which always makes me feel good and brings a big smile to my face :) This outfit was actually a contender for my Valentine's Day dinner outfit on Saturday (we're doing it early since Valentine's Day is on a Monday), but in the end, I decided to go with something else I came up with (still wearing the pink cardigan though). Hopefully that outfit looks as good on me IRL as it does in my head or I'm gonna have problems!

Speaking of pink cardigans...If you don't already have a light pink cardigan in your closet, you need to go get one ASAP! I just got mine a few weeks ago and it's already become my new favorite color/piece in my closet. It instantly softens up any look, pairs well with almost every other color (except for maybe orange, but I don't really like orange on me anyway), and makes you feel like such a girly girl. I've also come to the conclusion that you can't be in a bad mood when you wear light pink. It's just not possible. Don't believe me? Give it a try and you'll see!

Which colors do you think every women should have in her closet? Which ones make you feel your very best every time you wear them?

  1. This is my favorite dress of yours and I'm so sad I couldn't afford it, because I live for polka dots. I'm glad your day got better and today was good, too! ... think I need to get on this pink cardigan bandwagon! I only have neutrals and a lime green!

  3. This is so cute! I wish that I could get away with wearing light pink, or any shade of pink/red for that matter, but my pale skin tone does not coordinate well with it. I tend to stick with blues and greens; I've been told that they complement my blonde hair and blue eyes best.

    Your outfits are always adorable!

  4. I'm not sure I have a light pink cardigan, I will have to get one! I love yours with the Mullany, and I am anxious to see your V-Day look.

  5. You're right, I DO need to get one ASAP. Hmm...I may need to renegotiate the terms of this shopping ban...

  7. :) You look adorable Sara! I love your pink, black, and white combos today and yesterday. And I have been searching for the perfect fluffy pink cashmere cardigan for a while now! I agree that its something every girl needs to have in their wardrobe; mine feels a little less complete without it!

  8. Morning, you look lovely, ready to head to winter wedding!
I ordered a mint green cardi from H&M a few weeks ago and I wish it came in the lavender colour you wore a few days ago and a pale pink but alas only beige and baby blue.
Pastels are fab, I'm going to keep looking :)

  9. Your outfit is so pretty! It would be a perfect Valentine's date outfit - but you must have something even better up your sleeve for V-day and I can't wait to see it! You've also just inspired me to hunt for a light pink cardigan. It's one of the few colors I don't have in my cardi collection!

  11. Oh Sara, you look so cute! I agree, light pink is a great cardi color to have in the closet. Another good color in my opinion is a light peachy color, although that might not flatter all skin tones.

I love a good lavendar grey and I agree with Josie...kelly green all the way!

  12. Is it wrong that when I saw your outfit, my first response was "awwwwww"? You look fantastic today - girly in a good way! The pale pink really works well with your complexion!

  13. Hi there :) I found your blog from Kendi's list and I love it! This outfit is absolutely darling. I noticed your tights are from the LOFT...I love that place, I used to work there. And I love anthropologie, too! All your outfits are so classy.

  16. I don't like pink, but I LOVE blush/blossom/dusty rose/light pink. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have too many things in this color--dresses, sweaters, blouses. I've banned myself from buying anything light pink, beige or nude. Still, a few items make it home every once in a while. I can't help. I really can't. There is something so feminine and clean about wearing it.

  17. I love this soft, girlie-sweet combo Sara! I mean, the mullany looks fab with red and bright colours, but with baby pink, there's a lot of sweetness happening!
I know i'm going to sound boring, but i think every woman needs the colour black in her closet - not only is it very slimming, it goes with just about anything. Whenever i'm stumped, i pull out my black cardi :-)

  18. Louise-For some reason I'm really into the pastels lately too. That's so funny to me because I used to hate wearing pastels and now I can't get enough of them!

Meghan-I sure hope my Valentine's Day outfit is as good as or better than this one!

GinaBean-I love kelly green on myself! I wish I could pull off the light peach color, but it usually just clashes with my pale skin :/

Marie-I love the color and thickness of these tights, but I found a hole in them after only one wear (and in another pair that I bought from LOFT) :/

Tien-These past few months I have grown to love blush/dusty rose, but I have the hardest time finding pieces in that color :/ I usually find pink or peach, but no blush.

Vintageglammz-I totally agree that a black cardigan is a must have in any girl's closet. I can't say that I reach for mine that often, but I know I would miss it if it wasn't there!
