Random Sunday Thoughts and my OOTD

Random Sunday Thoughts:

1) My husband and I watched I Am Legend this weekend and it got me thinking...If you were the last person left on earth (along with a bunch of crazy zombies), would you still take the time to get dressed in your cute Anthro (or non Anthro) clothes everyday or would you just wear the same t-shirt and jeans everyday?

Part of me thinks that I just wouldn't care about clothes because I would be too busy trying to stay alive, but another part of me thinks that I would still take the time to get dressed everyday because I would need something to look forward to every morning. And let's face it, the zombies would eventually catch me and turn me into one of them, so I would want to look cute when that happened :)

2) I saw over on the website What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear that Emma is going to wear the Peppered and Striped Skirt from Anthro in an upcoming episode of Glee. While I love seeing people on TV wearing pieces from Anthro, I'm worried that this is going to make the skirt sell like hotcakes and there won't be any left in my size when it goes on sale. This means I'll probably have to bite the bullet and pay full price for it :(

3) When you see pieces that you missed out on in the past pop back up on your Anthro wishlist, do you stick them in your cart and eat the shipping charges, refuse to pay for shipping no matter how much you want the item, or put the item in your cart, wait a few hours, and then check back to see if it's still there and make a final decision (you might secretly be hoping that someone else snatches it up first in that time frame to make your decision that much easier)?

I had 3 things pop back up in my size in the last few weeks that I really wanted, but I just couldn't pull the trigger with the added shipping charges. I guess if they were that important to me and I REALLY wanted them, I would have paid for shipping wouldn't I?

4) Can't wait for season 5 of Dexter to start tonight!

5) It should not be 90 plus degrees when we are this close to October. I want falling leaves, cool breezes, hot chocolate, scarves, and cozy sweaters, not sweat dripping down my back and tank tops/shorts!

Thanks to Tara from Little Girl Big Closet for inspiring the look that I wore on Friday. I've been stumped on what to pair this cardigan with, so I was thrilled when I saw her wear it with pieces that I have in my own closet.

  1. ahh two items I waited too long for... if they were to pop back on my wishlist I'd probably pay shipping for them.... and I'd probably wear gym clothes if I was running from zombies, but thats just my practical side :)

  2. Such a cute OOTD, that cardi really works adorably with the Vappu - love it!

  3. I would probably dress up for awhile, just because all the stores would be available to me and clothes would be free. LOL. Then, I would probably get tired of it and change to jeans and shirt with the random dressing up day.

I am so sad I missed out on the cartography cardi...especially since my husband's undergrad degree is in geography. Why oh why did I not pull the trigger! Every time I see it on a blog, I am so sad.

  4. Hi Sara
Nice outfit, I like how you chose a palette of earthy colours. The looping lanes belt is one of my faves and goes with pretty much everything!
Regarding the Anthro online shopping cart, I add items and it could take me as long as a week (or two!) to actually “checkout”. I tend to think about it for quite a while as you can see! I live in Australia and shipping charges are outrageous – I recently paid $50AUD just for shipping. Oh well, it’s all worth it in the end!

    Cheers

  5. If I find a pop-back of an item I want, then I'll usually just eat the shipping charges. Usually if I pass on an item, it kinda fades from my memory that I ever wanted it. But if I see it as a pop-back and I still really want the item, I'll just go ahead and purchase it. This goes especially for items that sold out when they were full price but popped back on sale (happened to me with the cream capelet from August 2009...popped back in March on sale even though it sold out full price).

You should probably get the skirt that's going to appear on Glee while you still can. I think a lot of the fans won't have any problem forking over $128 for a skirt featured on Glee. Oh,and it was 103 today in Los Angeles...it sucks!

  6. cute outfit! but why pay shipping for popbacks?? call cs and have them find it in a store...then call the store & they will ship for free.

  7. I remember this outfit of Tara's -- both of you wear it so well, it's a delightful combination :)

I have been way too spoiled with free shipping this summer; I just can't bring myself to pay for shipping on a popback unless it lasts until I make my next large order! I am a total cheapskate when it comes to shipping for some reason; mentally adding that cost is just hard for me to take!

Oh, and about Emma wearing the Peppered & Stripes skirt -- the price point of the skirt is high enough that I don't think it will sell out right away, especially the in-store stock. Stay strong!

  8. I hate I Am Legend. When he kills his dog.... I can't take it. I hate all movies when a dog dies. I have boycotted it from ever watching again.

To answer your question, though... I would probably only wear t-shirts and jeans if I was the last one alive. Who am I trying to impress, zombies?

  9. I think I'd be more likely to get dressed up because I could get all the clothes I wanted for free!

Liked the movie, but it doesn't make sense that all the zombies look the same, especially that they're all skinny and athletic. What happened to all the obese people??

  10. I don't think I would get too dressed up because what if the zombies ruined my clother!? I hate paying shipping and have to really want something! I love vappu and the cartography cardi together!!!

  11. Swee2th-I didn't even think about being able to get all the Anthro clothes I want for free! How fun would that be?

Jen-I usually try and wait it out too because I'm afraid I'll pay for the shipping and then something else I want will pop up and I'll have to pay for shipping again!

Kelly-I think you're right about the skirt. The stock is already starting to go down online.

Barbara-I would love to do it that way, but the chances of finding the really old items in store is pretty slim.

Goldenmeans-I hope you're right about the skirt! I'll try to stay strong, but when the stock starts to get really low, I'll probably get it.

Robin-I really hate that part of the movie too! I get teary eyed every time!

Lady Cardigan-I never really realized that all of the zombies looked the same. You're right though...where are the kid zombies and the elderly zombies?

Tricia-True about the zombies ruining your clothes, but what if they set your house on fire and your favorite dress was left inside? I'd rather have it on me with stains all over it than in a burning building!

  13. Hi Sara- I really hope that skirt doesn't sell like crazy- I just think it's crazy to spend $128 on a skirt! I do love it, but I will have to wait until sale time (if it makes it). I hear you on the shipping! A few weeks ago the Vappu dress popped back for me and I just couldn't pay the shipping! The summer totally ruined shipping for me! I paid it before, but I know have the mentality that why pay shipping if I absolutely don't have to? Right now, it would take me really loving a piece plus a killer price plus excess in my budget to pay for shipping. And I don't think that will happen :). Anyway, that was the longest comment ever. Happy Saturday!
