Reviews: Love at First Sight

Hi readers! So I popped into Anthropologie yesterday to check out the sale in store (didn't find anything I had to have) and found these two lovelies to try on. I decided to give their reviews their own post (and move them ahead of the other reviews I still have to do) because I loved them that much and they didn't even compare to anything else I tried on or have tried on in the last few weeks. I definitely got that feeling of "I feel awesome in this and have to have it or I'll cry" when I tried both of them on, which is always good :) Enjoy!

Oh Mimetic Skirt (size 6, $88), how I love thee! I seriously never wanted to take this skirt off once I got it on. The silk material is beautiful and very light and airy. The skirt sat a little higher up on my waist, making it fall about 2 inches above my knees. This might make it too short for me to wear to work, but don't worry, I'm sure I can find somewhere else to wear it! I don't own a solid black skirt or a skirt with a tie at the waist, so this will definitely fill a void in my closet. $88 isn't a bad price for a skirt at Anthro, so you may see this in an OOTD sooner rather than later :)

The Sugar and Cream Dress (Size 4, $158) had me smiling from the moment I saw it hanging on the rack. How can you not smile when you see a dress covered in colorful tea cups? My true size 4 fit me perfectly after I tied the bow in the back, but when the bow was untied, the top was a tad big. I honestly don't think anyone else but me would notice though. Lengthwise, it hit me between the middle and top part of my knees (I'm about 5'7). I usually can't pull off dark grey colors, but this was more of a blue-grey, so I felt like it worked for me. As I mentioned before, I loved the tea cup print...I felt like I was straight out of Alice in Wonderland :) I'm also a big fan of dresses with zippers in the back (this one was hidden). They are so much easier for me to get into. I really don't have anything bad to say about this dress other than part of me wishes it were made of cotton rather than silk so that I could wear it to work frequently, but then it might not be as beautiful as it is. I'm going to try to wait for this one to go on sale, but I'm not sure it's going to make it there. I'll definitely pay full price for it if I see that my size is starting to sell out online. Highly recommended!

  2. Both of these are gorgeous! I personally don't think the skirt is too short on you for work, but I guess it depends on your work environment and comfort level.

You look fantastic in both pieces, I hope you're able to get them!

  6. Love the skirt, and the dress on you of course. I think the dress works on you better than it did on me cause you have a sweeter look! Haha does that make sense? I'm going to try that skirt on again and seriously consider it!

  9. I am wearing the Mimetic skirt today and I love it! It does wrinkle very easily though. I used to live on the East Coast for many years, but now I live in Central Illinois. I laughed at the NOT CHICAGO comment. I think people sometimes think all of IL is Chicago and its not:) Although, they do have much better shopping. I appreciate your reviews since I am not near a store.

  13. Tea cups dress looks fabulous on you. We are similar in size (I'm a 6 in dresses usually unless straight) and height so I'm psyched.

I loved that skirt too when I saw it online and in the store. I work in IT and the boys already wonder where I am going when I come to work, when they notice. It it really too short for your office? Not like 1/2 your thigh is showing....LOL

  14. The dress looks fabulous on you! You must get it. Love the skirt too, but the dress flatters you so much.

  15. Silk will help the dress transition more seamlessly into fall. Cotton doesn't usually work as a fall material. :)

  16. Okay, both of these pieces are just so perfect in their own right, the skirt because it will be a workhorse staple in your closet and looks perfect on you! I agree that it looks completely work appropriate. And then that dress, oh my, that dress - it fits you amazingly - just so, so pretty! Can you work this into your honeymoon? Or even the rehearsal dinner? Heck, why not wear something you are so in love with for such a special time in your life?!

  18. Both look fantastic on you! I hope you get at least one of them soon! Thanks for reviewing the dress, I'm considering it. Just wish I had a store closer to me so I could try things on instead of buying, waiting for it to arrive, hoping it will fit.

  19. Personally, I prefer the Mimetic Skirt. I completely understand your love for it. I didn't think I would love it as much as I did when I tried it on. In the Fall/Winter, it would be completely work appropriate with tights, however, I don't think a couple of inches above is too short for work. The dress is adorable on you, too.
