1) Beda Dress-$118

I never looked twice at this dress in the store because it was solid white, which I can't pull off, but when I found out is was going to be available in green, I decided I needed to try it on to see how the fit was. I tried the size 6 and while it was a tad big at the waist, I don't think I would be able to size down to a 4. I think a belt would easily fix this problem. The material was pretty thick/heavy, so you might not want to wear it in the summer if you're going to be outside all day. The good thing about the thick material is that it makes the dress seem much more expensive than it is. The sleeves did stick out a little, making them look like they were too big on me. It wasn't a deal breaker for me though. This is one you could wear to work or throw on to run errands on the weekend. I highly recommend this one and plan on picking it up in green when it hits sale (assuming I like the green color). I also have a question for the pale ladies out there...would you all ever wear a solid white dress? I guess I just think that I can't wear all white because I would blend right in with the dress, but I'm curious to see if other pale ladies ever wear it.
2) Anthurium Blouse-$88

I tried this blouse on in a size 6 and it was VERY snug at the waist. I wouldn't size up (it wasn't snug to the point where I needed out of it ASAP), but some ladies may need to. The straps were also about 1/2 an inch to an inch too big on me. The navy was beautiful in person as was the embroidered detailing at the neckline. This top could easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I was in love with this top after seeing it in the catalog, but in person, it just didn't do it for me. This one is a pass for me.
3) Botanical Stroll Dress-$168

Many online reviews said that this dress ran big, but for me, it fit TTS for this brand (Floreat, size 6). Length wise, it hit me at about mid knee. I did feel like dress poofed out too much in the hip area, making my hips look bigger than they are. There was also quite a bit of boobage going on in this dress, so I don't think I would be able to wear it to work. I loved the sweetheart neckline, the thick straps, and the beautiful pink flowers, but I could not get past the cats on the dress! It was hard for me not to notice them and they took the dress down a few notches in my book. I think I may have gotten this one on sale if it weren't for those darn cats! Pass for me.
4) Obscured Oleander Cardigan-$88

I knew this cardigan would be a pass for me when I saw that it didn't have a button/snap closure (I'm not a fan of cardigans that don't close), but I decided to try it on anyway for the blog. I tried on the pink color, which in person, is more of a salmon/coral color. The size small fit perfectly, but the sleeves were a tad snug. I could deal with it, but they were pretty fitted. I think the sleeves were also borderline too short on me. What I love about this cardigan is the flower design and the cute pockets! I wish they would put this design on a blouse or dress because I would be all over it! This one is a pass for me, but if you don't mind open cardigans, then I say go for it!
As I mentioned in the beginning, my plan was to leave with the Torsade Tee if my store had it, which they did. Surprisingly, I left with 2 other items instead. Look for them to appear in my OOTD posts this week.
Also, check out Anthropologie Girl's first giveaway here. Who wouldn't want to win that?? I want!
Bye for now!

I am SUPER-pale and I love to wear white! I don't know if it is entirely flattering on me, but 2 of my favorite dresses are all white.
ReplyDeleteI am really fair as well. I ordered the Beda dress in green, though if I really love it I'm considering picking up the white as well. The white looked really cute on Kim at Anthroholic - check out her review!
ReplyDeleteI think you can totally pull it off! :)
Caroline
I'm also pretty pale too, so I'm iffy on the all-white dress thing too. But the style looks super cute on you!
ReplyDeleteDid you get the Openwork Vines skirt?? I bought it this morning as soon as my Anthro opened! I love it so much but refused to pay the $128 for it! So glad it finally went on sale.
And I think I'm in the minority when it comes to the Botanical Stroll dress, but I adore it--cats and all! I think it's because I am very much a cat lover. My husband thinks it's horrible, though, so I'll have to figure out a way to smuggle it in without him noticing it...haha.
I think the white Beda looks good on you! But from the website pictures, it looks like you can see more of the details on the dress in the green color. So that's what's drawing me to the green. But I'm pretty pale, I lose the tan big time during winter, but I still wear white.
ReplyDeleteI was curious, too. Did you get the Openwork Vines? I was going to do a crazy search for it but I'm trying to be strong. Does your store have a size 0? Ok, that's not being strong. But you can let me know, just in case.
Botanical Strolls would be nice if those cats were dogs or just more flowers!
That cardi is cute, never noticed it on the website. There are just too many cardi's NOT going on sale! Are they waiting for the summer?
Hey Gemma--not to tempt you, but I just got back from my local Anthro this morning, where I bought the Openwork Vines skirt in a size 0. I happened to notice another 0 sitting right next to it on the rack...the store I was at is in Dedham, Massachusetts in case you are interested. It fits like a dream!
ReplyDeleteI've had to restrain myself from buying the Beda dress in white like 40 times. I hope it goes on sale soon, b/c it's just taunting me.
ReplyDeleteLauren H-That makes me feel better because I'm super pale too! I feel like if I want to wear it and I'm ok with how I look in it, then I should just get it. Who cares if pale people aren't supposed to wear white, right?
ReplyDeleteCaroline-Kim looked great in it didn't she? I would buy the green version, but I have the Reed Shirtdress in green, so I don't think I need both. Plus, I have no white dresses and I'm starting to think I need one in my closet!
Em-I didn't end up getting the Openwork Vines Skirt, but I did get 3 other things :) I'll post about that soon. I really liked the Botanical Stroll Dress too, but why the cats Anthro??
Gemma-My store only had a size 4 Openwork Vines Skirt (the one in the pic) and I'm sure it's gone by now. I didn't buy it (I was tempted though), but I'll share what I bought later! I agree about the cardigans...hello Bougainvillea Cardigan?? Go on sale already!!
Krameymartin-I shouldn't have tried the Beda Dress on because now I want it really bad! I need it to go on sale soon too because I don't know if I can wait much longer!
Like Lauren, I love wearing white and I'm really really pale. I actually think instead of washing me out, it brightens me up..strange as that sounds. I think the Beda looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteKim-I used to think that I had to wear darker colors because I was so pale, but in the last few years I've realized that bright, vibrant colors look so much better on me! Now I try and stay away from navy/black/brown/dark purple. I think wearing all white will take a little getting used to, but I think the Beda Dress is a great dress to start out with!
ReplyDeleteI have a pale olive complexion, so I normally wear bright colors. But there are certain shades of white that I wear, like really brilliant whites and certain cream colors. I stay away from off-whites and beige-y whites because they make me look kind of ill. I don't think you look too pale in the Beda Dress, but it's all about what you feel confident in :)
ReplyDeleteDid you ever try on the cream version of the Anthurium Blouse from last fall? It was too short for my torso, so I'm wondering if this version is any longer because I love the color...
I can't wait to see what you bought!
Rebekah-I didn't get a chance try the cream version, but didn't find this one to be too short on me. The tight fit in the waist is what got me.
