New Arrival Reviews Part 2

Here's part 2 of my new arrival reviews...Enjoy!

1) Torsade Tee-$48 and Future Past Skirt-$198

I was so happy to see this tee in my store because I've never seen it IRL. They must have gotten a new shipment in this week, because they had quite a few of the white/dark gray/red. I decided to try on the red because it's one of my favorite colors to wear and it looks a lot better on me than white and gray do. I tried on the small and it fit, but it's definitely a fitted tee (so if you don't like fitted tees, you probably don't want to get this one). I wouldn't want to size up though because it would be too big in the chest area. I plan on wearing this tucked into skirts, so I don't mind that it's fitted. It was a little on the thin side, but it wasn't see through and I think the thin material will be perfect come summer time. I had also heard that the twisting around the neckline wasn't very secure on some of the tees, but the one I had didn't have any issues. My plan was to walk out of the store with this tee (can't beat $48!), but as I was walking to the register, I saw that there was a small hole in the front of the shirt near the shoulder. Of course, they didn't have any other smalls in the red color, so I had to pass it up. I'm hoping to check out a few other stores this week to see if they have it so I can pick it up. Highly recommended! I also forgot to mention that I saw online that this tee comes in a sky blue color! Is this new to everyone or just to me? I want to try it!

The last time I was in Anthro, they had this skirt in sizes 10 and 12, so I couldn't try it on. This time, they had those same sizes as well as a size 4. I grabbed the 4 since I heard that this skirt ran a little big. This skirt hit right above the knee lengthwise and sat a little bit above my belly button. So I'd say size down one size. This skirt was just as beautiful in person as I imagined it would be. It has beautiful blue and green stripes and the gray color has a nice shine to it. Online, the picture shows two colored lines on the waistband, but mine didn't have them. This is another one I would have walked out with except for the outrageous price! $200 for a skirt? Really? I'll definitely pick this one up come sale time. Another one I highly recommend!

2) Speckled Ink Dress Part 2-$158 (not online)

Of all the new arrivals I was expecting to see in store, this was not one of them! So I was pleasantly surprised to see it hanging there in both gray and purple (I thought we were just getting gray!). I grabbed the purple in a medium (that's what I needed in the Speckled Ink Dress) and it fit exactly the same. It hit right at the top of my knees, if not a little bit lower. For some reason though, this solid color didn't wow me like the blue version did. It just seemed very plain and I felt like it needed something extra. Maybe a belt? I also don't think I could wear this dress to work because the straps/pieces on the arms slid down every so often and I don't need that happening at work! It is a very comfortable dress and would be great to wear in Spring/Summer, but not for $158. Honestly, probably not for the sale price either (I may consider the blue version on sale). This one is a pass for me.

3) Swirling Particles Skirt-$128

I could not resist trying on another bubble hem skirt (I love my Montgolfier Skirt)! As you can see in the second picture, the skirt is made up of gray and black dots with a nice light blue colored dot thrown in there. This is a size 6, which was way too big on me in the waist. I was able to pull it down below my belly button, which put it right at the top of the knee length wise. I would probably buy this in a size 4 if it wasn't too short on me. I thought this was a really cute skirt, but I didn't like how the sides of the skirt came in towards the body at the bottom (look at the first picture). It made me look like I had big hips, which I don't want. I'm not sure why they did that, but I think it's a deal breaker for me. It's too bad because I really liked the colors of the skirt.

4) Picture Frame Blouse-$78

I first tried on the blue version of this top in a size 6, but then decided I also wanted to try on the size 4 in the mint green color. So you get both! As you can see in the picture, the size 4 is pulling a little bit in the chest (look at the top button) and it was also a little too short for my liking. I just kept imagining the 4 riding up on the sides and me constantly having to pull it down. The sleeves weren't too tight on the size 4 though, which surprised me. The size 6 was more flowy on me, but I think it will be fine when it's tucked in. The only thing I'm a little worried about is showing the girls when I bend over (the 6 was a tad big on top). I did prefer the mint green color to the blue just because I don't have a mint green colored top and I don't see that color on tops very often. I also really loved the neckline on this top (it was very flattering). This one is wishlisted and I plan on picking it up in the mint green/size 6 when it hits sale. Let me know which one you liked better!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  2. Kim-I'm glad because I love it too! It's actually more mint in person than it's showing in the picture. I love that skirt too, but my wallet isn't going to love forking over $100 for it when it goes on sale :( I'm afraid I'll miss out on it though if I don't grab it!

  3. I love the print on that Tracy Reese skirt, but it does look like it adds alot of volume on the hips.

  4. Jenny-This skirt would have come home with me come sale time if it wasn't for the issues I had with the volume. It's too bad because the print really was beautiful.

  5. I like the Torsade Tee and the Future Past Skirt and they look great together! The Speckled Ink Dress fits you well, but I agree that the color seems a bit plain. And my vote is for the mint Pictureframe Blouse-- both colors look great on you, but the mint just seems more special. :)

  7. I think you're right: I haven't seen the new versions of the Speckled Ink Dress (surely the new ones can't be called that??) yet, but they seem to be missing that extra something, don't they?
Pictureframe blouse looks fantastic on you!
Am I crazy or are the Torsade Tees and the Night Skating Top basically the same top, bar print and colour?

  8. Hometown Queen-Yep the Torsade Tee and the Night Skating Top are exactly the same. I haven't tried on the Night Skating top, so I'm not sure about fit, but I would assume they are the same. The new Speckled Ink Dress is cute, but definitely missing something and not something I HAVE to have.
