Miss Indecisive

I walked into my Anthro store today with the sole purpose of buying the Wright Dress. I figured I'd pick it up from the counter (had it on hold), try it on one more time, and walk out of the store with it. Well, that's not exactly what happened. I went in and of course they had several new arrivals, so I had to try them on. Then as I browsed the store, I saw that they had gotten a new shipment of the Bougainvillea Cardigan in. I wanted to try a medium on since I had only ever tried it on in a large. After I got in the fitting room, I put the Wright Dress on and for some reason, the love I had for it before just wasn't there. I REALLY wanted it to be, but it just wasn't. The color wasn't doing anything for me and I realized I wouldn't really have anywhere to wear it. On sale, it would still be $80 and the old me (pre-Anthro) would never have paid $80 for a dress that I wasn't in love with. I think I sometimes forget that just because something goes on sale doesn't mean I HAVE to buy it. I also need to realize that just because something looks cute on someone else doesn't mean that it's going to look cute on me, no matter how badly I want it to. I thought that I would have this horrible feeling in my stomach when I walked out of the store without it (I'm very indecisive), but I didn't. So what did I buy instead??

The Bougainvillea Cardigan (ignore the white poofy skirt underneath)! I have loved this cardigan from the moment I first tried it on, but didn't want to pay $128 for it. I fell in love all over again when I tried it on today and just had to have it. I'm hoping it goes on sale in the next 2 weeks, but if not, I'll still keep it :) I better start wearing it though before the heat gets here!

Do any of you ever walk into Anthro with one item to buy in mind and then leave with another?

  1. LOL this happens to me ALL THE TIME! There were a few posts on my blog back in the Fall where I asked readers to help me choose items to buy and I'd come back every time with totally different items! I totally feel you and I think you made the right choice :-)

  2. Yup! Just the other day, I walked out with the Acting Out Skirt which I only tried on out of curiousity - never in a million years did I think I'd like it!

I like this cardigan on you. I can't do sweaters that longer length so I miss out on a lot of Anthro's cutest things :(

  3. The cardi looks great on you. I want to get a couple of different cardis, so I hope it doesn't get too warm soon. But if you feel better in the cardi than the Wright dress, I think you made the right decision.

I use to be like that, too, thinking "this costs how much...on sale?!" I need to realize, as well, that just because it's on sale, doesn't mean I need it. My husband would also like me to come to that realization. But he's okay and realizes I'm sadly addicted.

There's always something new and great that pops up at Anthro. I just wish I could get everything...on a 2nd markdown!

  4. Kim-I'm glad I'm not the only one! I think I did too! I love that cardigan!

Kathleen-I really wanted to try that skirt on the other day, but they only had a few sizes left (not mine). Now I'm afraid to try it on because I have a feeling I might walk out with it!

Gemma-There are a lot of cardis I still want to get too! I keep thinking they'll stop making them because it's getting warmer out, but they keep putting out really cute ones!

  5. What size on the cardi did you end up going with?

  6. That happens to me quite frequently. In fact, last week I went in for the sole purpose of finding the two-wheeler dress (which they didn't have) and came out with a pair of pink bermuda shorts, sale tights, a small travel journal, and 3 tees.
